MALMSBURY RIDE - SUNDAY 25th SEPT - LEADER MARK NICOLL
WEATHER – STUNNING. ROAD – DRY. 8 RIDERS.
Going to any location with our intrepid Mark “where are we going?” in front will always be ‘interesting’ of course
This ride was no different after meeting at 0930hrs Macca's Waurn Ponds
Our destination for the first stop was at Buninyong as we travelled through the beautiful Mt.Mercer hills and wind turbines. The roads were quite straightforward and a pleasure to travel over with only a couple of corners encountered along the way. Because of the small numbers the Corner Markers were sometimes modified. Plenty of rain recently showed with all dams were full or overflowing in the farmers paddocks
After the morning break, we moved towards MALMSBURY crossing the Ballarat Freeway and then we took the Black Swamp Road, Midland Hwy, then Old Ballarat Road into Daylesford crossing through the Daylesford Lake.
The town was very busy with the local market packed with visitors as we passed by. When we arrived at the Malmsbury Bakery it was packed but our outside table had been sensibly pre-booked by Mark. My Curry Steak Pie was delicious, and the other products looked really wholesome. Must go back again for lunch.
... at lunch, solving the problems of the world... (Mark)
Heading home we passed through Kyneton and detoured past one of the over-flowing dams and what a pretty sight the waterflow going down the spillway at Upper Coliban Reservoir.
We passed through Springhill, Trentham, Blackwood, Anakie before finishing the Ride at BP Geelong Ring Rd. About 320km from home.
A beautiful day, great company, great scenery & roads less travelled with researched routes known only by our Ride Coordinator
... 10/10 MARK
GO CATS!!
